Dear Friends in Christ;
As more information comes through on the situation in Fort McMurray we continue to pray for those affected by the devastating wildfire. Our hearts go out to all who have lost their homes and possessions, some of whom we may know. We continue to contribute to the recovery in any way we can. Many of us have contributed through the Canadian Red Cross, where funds have been matched by Government. Here in our Pastoral Charge we will be collecting funds that will be going directly to First United Church in Fort McMurray to help with recovery efforts on the ground. This will allow the United Church to have a very real presence in the community as people return to the city. We believe that the work of the church will be ongoing and we want to be a part of that work just as we received support from the church through the flood in 2013. If you wish to donate to this fund, please write a cheque or give your money to Okotoks United Church indicating that it is for Fort McMurray. This donation will be added to your offering and you will receive a tax receipt at the end of the year. Thanks for all of your efforts. Together we can make a difference as the body of Christ.
