Our goal is to strive for a community based answer to childrens' hunger at school.  We believe providing children with healthy lunches will contribute to their general well being, learning and positive behaviours.

Background:  We launched a pilot project in early March 2017 providing 23 lunches to two schools, Percy Pegler and Big Rock.  We are currently providing lunches for an average of sixty students a day in seven schools.

Our School Partner: We partner with the Foothills School Division to identify students in need and distribute the lunches in a confidential and inclusive manner.  Any student whose family is unable to provide a healthy lunch is included in the program.  The feedback from the schools and families has been heartwarming and encouraging.

Volunteer Support:  We have had incredible support from the Okotoks United Church congregation and the Okotoks community at large.  Over the course of a school year, thirty-two people help make and pack lunches three days a week.

Funding partners:  Funding and in-kind donations have generously been provided by the Okotoks United Church, Okotoks Lions Club, Okotoks Elks Club, Okotoks Food Bank, The George Traditional House, Ubuntu Meat Pies,  Dewinton United Church, Karson Builders, Okotoks Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Foothills Shrine Club, Kinsmen Club of Okotoks, Foothills Lions Club, Okotoks Rotary Club  and individuals from within our congregation and community.

There is also an account at the Okotoks Bottle Depot for those who would like to donate their deposit returns proceeds to this program.
